Startup Founders

Business Owners

Researchers and Inventors

What will you learn?

When you dive into the essentials of an elevator pitch, here’s what you can gain, no matter if you’re a startup founder, business owner, student, sales or marketing pro, or an inventor and researcher:

  1. Learn the Key Ingredients: You’ll get to know exactly what makes an elevator pitch work. It’s like understanding the recipe that makes your favorite dish taste so good. This knowledge helps you craft pitches that people listen to and remember.

  2. Know What Not to Do: Just as important as knowing what to include is knowing what to leave out. You’ll learn about the common slip-ups that can make an elevator pitch flop, ensuring you won’t make those same errors.

  3. Hands-On Practice: By looking at real examples of what works and what doesn’t, you’ll start to see the difference for yourself. It’s like comparing a pro basketball player’s moves to a beginner’s – you’ll learn what excellence looks like and what mistakes to avoid.

In this part of the course, “Crafting Your Elevator Pitch,” you’ll get hands-on experience in creating your pitch, piece by piece. Here’s how this benefits you:

  1. Guided Steps: Think of this as a journey where you’re guided at every step to build your pitch. You’ll learn how to clearly outline the problem you’re addressing, which is like setting the scene for your audience to understand why your idea or product matters.

  2. Presenting Your Solution: You’ll then get into the heart of your pitch – your solution. This is where you introduce your hero (your product or idea) and explain how it saves the day.

  3. Highlighting Your Value: Understanding and articulating your value proposition is like showing off your superhero’s powers. You’ll learn to showcase what makes your product or idea stand out and why it’s the best choice.

  4. Effective Call to Action: Finally, you’ll craft a call to action that’s like a compelling invitation for your audience to join you on your mission, whether it’s to invest, buy, or support your idea.

  5. Practice Makes Perfect: You’ll put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) and draft your pitch. It’s like a sketch before the final artwork, where you get to experiment and shape your message.

In this session, “Delivering Your Pitch with Confidence,” you’ll learn how to present your elevator pitch not just with the right words, but with the right presence and poise. Here’s what you’ll gain:

  1. Mastering Communication: You’ll get tips on how to use your voice and what you say (verbal communication) and how to use your body language (non-verbal communication) to reinforce your message. It’s like learning to add expression to your voice and gestures to make your story more engaging.

  2. Making an Impact: Strategies for making a strong first impression will help you grab your audience’s attention right from the start. You’ll learn how to present yourself in a way that makes people want to listen and connect with you.

  3. Hands-On Practice: You’ll pair up and practice delivering your pitch, focusing on your delivery and body language. This is like rehearsing a play where you get to refine your performance to make sure your message hits home with your audience.

Note: After the course, we’ll have an additional 2 hours dedicated for those who wish to hang back and continue practicing. This ensures there’s ample time for everyone to refine their pitches, get feedback, and build confidence in their delivery.

In the “Feedback and Refinement” segment, you’ll have the chance to present your crafted elevator pitch to others and gain valuable insights. Here’s what this entails:

  1. Presenting Your Pitch: Whether to the whole group or in smaller breakout sessions, you’ll deliver your pitch, simulating a real-world scenario where you get to practice what you’ve learned in a supportive environment.

  2. Receiving Feedback: You’ll get constructive comments from both your peers and the instructor. This feedback is like a mirror, showing you how your message is received and where you can improve.

  3. Making It Even Better: With the feedback in hand, you’ll have the opportunity to tweak and refine your pitch. Think of it as polishing a gem – you’re enhancing its shine, making sure it catches the eye exactly as you intend.

In the “Mastering the Pitch: Adaptation and Flexibility” section, you’ll learn how to customize your elevator pitch for various situations and audiences. Here’s the breakdown:

  1. Customization for Audiences: You’ll discover how to tweak your pitch depending on who you’re talking to. Whether it’s investors, customers, partners, or peers, you’ll learn how to adjust your message so it resonates with each specific group.

  2. Dynamic Delivery: Keeping your pitch dynamic means it’s never a one-size-fits-all speech. You’ll learn techniques to keep your pitch engaging, ensuring that your audience stays hooked from start to finish.

  3. Practical Exercise: You’ll have a chance to practice this adaptability by modifying your existing pitch for a different audience or context. It’s like having different outfits for various occasions; each one fits perfectly and makes the right impression.

After the crash course, you are given a valuable opportunity to extend youir learning journey beyond the session:

  1. Record and Submit: After refining your pitch, you’re encouraged to record a video of yourself delivering it. This not only allows you to see your own progress but also to receive additional feedback from the instructor, which can provide deeper insights and personal guidance to further hone your pitch.

  2. Continuous Learning: You will be provided with a selection of resources for ongoing learning and practice. This ensures that your pitch doesn’t just improve in the short term but continues to evolve and adapt, keeping it fresh and impactful.

This optional step is particularly beneficial for anyone serious about mastering their pitching skills. By recording your pitch, you gain the perspective of both the presenter and the audience, allowing you to self-evaluate and adjust. The additional resources ensure that your learning doesn’t stop when the course ends, offering pathways to continue growing and refining your skills.
